Sliding knot closures

A closure made from cord alone. It suits bracelets that have to slip on and off without a buckle.

Material use

about 40 cm of cord for the closure itself.

Tying it

  1. Lay the two ends of the finished piece parallel and overlapping.
  2. Wrap a separate short length around both, four to six turns.
  3. Feed the wrapping end back through its own turns and tighten.
  4. Test the slide before melting; a closure that is too tight will not move at all.

Notes

Three variations are common: a plain wrap, a wrap over a core, and a double sided version that slides from both ends.
