Sliding knot closures
A closure made from cord alone. It suits bracelets that have to slip on and off without a buckle.
Material use
about 40 cm of cord for the closure itself.
Tying it
- Lay the two ends of the finished piece parallel and overlapping.
- Wrap a separate short length around both, four to six turns.
- Feed the wrapping end back through its own turns and tighten.
- Test the slide before melting; a closure that is too tight will not move at all.
Notes
Three variations are common: a plain wrap, a wrap over a core, and a double sided version that slides from both ends.
