Round braid
A braid rather than a knot. Round, flexible and the standard construction for a lead that has to run through the hand.
Material use
roughly 35 cm per finished centimetre for four strands.
Tying it
- Anchor four strands and keep them in a fixed order.
- Take the outer left strand behind two and back over one.
- Repeat from the right, keeping the same rhythm.
- Pull each pass down before the next, or the braid will open up.
Notes
Six and eight strand versions follow the same logic and give a thicker, rounder result. The count has to be even.
